Green BB Centrum

Generally speaking, greenery is one of the most important aspects of modern buildings. This is particularly true of office developments and multipurpose complexes, not to mention self-contained urban centres. BB Centrum is indisputably an urban centre where both its tenants, and nearby residents can find all they need, for spending workdays as well as leisure time.

Moreover, a means for assessing a building’s energy performance has been required by law since 2009. Accordingly, all new buildings and building refurbishments with a floor area exceeding 1,000 square metres must receive a so-called Energy Performance Certificate, which must disclose what properties the building possesses from the perspective of its energy performance.

Aside from the Energy Performance Certificate, buildings can receive ecological certificates, and Building BETA boasts the BREEM certificate of an environmentally friendly building. To earn this certificate, the building in question is examined according to nine criteria such as materials used, energy performance, healthiness and the quality of interiors, transport accessibility, water management and waste management. The FILADELFIE office building has achieved a U.K. BREEAM In Use (BIU) baseline certification rating of “Good”, which is considered as one of the leading assessment methods for sustainable buildings in Europe. The BRE Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) has been devised in the UK to assess resource, waste and energy management, along with impacts on the environment, flora and fauna and human life conditions. A high priority is placed on the field of energy management, which goes hand in hand with air protection.

The green areas were incorporated into BB Centrum with the creation of Baar Park, which was opened to the public on 7th July 2010 after three months of extensive work. In the one-hectare area of Baar Park, you can find a relaxation zone with benches, a pétanque course and a great many unusual attractions for children and grown-ups alike. A plan is also afoot to create another park. Baar Park, together with several marvellous roof terraces offering a spectacular view of Prague, has raised the profile of BB Centrum as a green oasis near the centre of the metropolis.
